From one shared meal to a school and a neighbourhood platform.

Rukh Foundation, founded and led by Rukhsana Izhar, runs a community school and a daily community meal in Johar Town, Lahore, with five areas of neighbourhood work around them.1 Esipick built its digital work in partnership with Rukh: the website and content system, a fact-check routine, a donation path that works from abroad, a household and student support system, and the materials for an international delegation. This page tells the organisation's story first, then the work.

The organisation

A meal first. Then a classroom. Then a neighbourhood.

Rukh means "direction" in Urdu. Its public line is "Dignity, not charity, changes a life."1

Rukh Foundation started at the door of one home in Johar Town. Rukhsana Izhar met families who could not afford medicine and children who were missing meals, and she answered in the most direct way she knew: by cooking and sharing food with the people around her.2 A 2020 report described that free food service as 30 years old and still running through the COVID-19 lockdowns.7

Food carried a child through the day. Education could change the direction of a life. So she began supporting children's schooling and teaching a small group at home: six children became twelve, then forty.2 By 2005 the effort had grown into Rukh Foundation School.

Today the school runs from Reception to Grade 10. Rukh describes most of its students as first-generation learners, with highly subsidised education, STEM and digital learning, mentorship, and help with college placement, scholarships and career guidance. The daily meal still runs beside it, with no questions asked. Teachers and programme teams know the children, visit homes, and work at three connected levels: the child, the household and the neighbourhood.2

Why this work is hard

The need is large. The generosity is real. The gap is in between.

Two public sources frame the setting that organisations like Rukh work in.

UNICEF Pakistan · out-of-school children

About 25.1 million children aged 5 to 16 are out of school.

That is 35 per cent of the age group, and the second-highest number of out-of-school children in the world. Punjab alone accounts for about 9.7 million.14 UNESCO's 2026 GEM article, citing Pakistan Education Statistics, gives about 25.15 million.15

In cash, in kind or as volunteered time. The study estimates about Rs 240 billion in 2014, around 0.9 per cent of GDP. The total counts the value of volunteered time. Published January 2017.16

Our reading

The generosity exists. What many community organisations lack is a clear way to show supporters what their gift does, easy giving for people who live abroad, numbers they can defend, and records good enough to follow up on every household. That is the gap this work addresses.

What an organisation like this needs

One clear storyA page a donor, a journalist or a CSR officer can understand in a minute.
Numbers it can defendClaims that are confirmed, marked, or left out.
Easy giving, near and farA path that works from Lahore and from the diaspora.
Records it can act onEach household, need and follow-up in one place, with the right people seeing the right things.
Materials for big roomsA pack ready when a delegation, funder or partner asks.
What we built

Five pieces of work, built by Esipick in partnership with Rukh.

Each block shows what we built, what it lets Rukh do, and when it is relevant to you. Screens of the live site are real. Screens of the household system use fictional data and are labelled.

1

A website and content system that explains the whole organisation.

rukh.foundation is a 21-page site: home, who we are, our work with five pillar pages, services with four service pages and an enquiry page, impact, stories, get involved, gallery, donate, contact, and awards and press.21 The navigation follows the five pillars, so a funder who thinks in education, health or climate terms finds their entry point at once.

What we built

  • A copy deck and site map of about 4,000 words, dated 21 July 2026, with page-by-page copy, reusable page templates and editorial rules.
  • An impact page that lists what Rukh tracks: learning, wellbeing, household resilience, food security, climate and partnerships. It names outcomes, not only outputs.
  • A stories page built around sustained pathways, not children presented as objects of sympathy.
  • An awards and press page that lists only items with a name, a context and a link.
  • A "get involved" page with six defined routes: sponsor a student, volunteer and mentor, host a workshop, corporate partnership, internships and learning visits, in-kind support. One form routes them all.20

What it lets Rukh do

  • Send a donor, partner or journalist to one address that tells the full story in the vocabulary they use.
  • Turn a general "how can I help?" into a specific route with a name on it.
Relevant if youYour story lives in a PDF, a few social pages and the memory of your founder.

2

A fact-check discipline: every uncertain claim is marked before it is published.

Nonprofit numbers drift. Documents disagree, rounding creeps in, and a figure that was true once stays on the page for years. Our copy deck opens with a publishing note that lists what must be confirmed first. We do not publish a claim the organisation has not verified.

Relevant if youYour brochure, grant report and website each quote a different number for the same thing.

What we built

  • A single rule: a claim is confirmed, marked [CONFIRM], or left out.
  • A written list of the claims that need an owner's sign-off: enrolment, years of service, meal volume, titles, programme details, alumni claims and governance documents.
  • An editorial principle for every page: lead with dignity, capability and opportunity, not pity.

What it lets Rukh do

  • Answer a funder's "where does this number come from?" with a source, not a shrug.
  • Raise the conservative figure first and upgrade it only when the record supports it.
3

A donation path that works from Lahore and from abroad.

A generous person in Houston or Dubai should not have to guess how to give. The donate page asks three plain questions and then hands the conversation to Rukh's team on WhatsApp.19

What we built

  • A switch between Pakistan (amounts in rupees) and US and abroad (amounts in dollars), with preset amounts and a custom option.
  • A preference between General Fund, Education and Meals, or Climate and Community, with an honest note that Rukh may direct gifts to where need is greatest.
  • An optional dedication, such as in memory of or in honour of someone.
  • A button that opens WhatsApp with the pledge already written. For gifts from abroad, the team replies with the easiest route, typically PayPal, Zelle or a bank transfer.
  • A plain statement that US tax-deductible receipts are not yet issued.

What it lets Rukh do

  • Accept pledges from supporters abroad today, with the team choosing the easiest way to receive each gift.
  • Learn which programme a donor cares about before the first message.
Relevant if youYour supporters abroad ask how to send money and wait days for an answer.
4

A household and student support system, built around how Rukh's teachers and staff already work.

Rukh's teams visit homes and know each child. The system gives that knowledge a place to live: one record per household, the people in it, what they need, who is following up, and what Rukh has provided. It is a first version, and it already holds Rukh's first data load.

What we built

  • Role-based sign-in for admin, staff and teacher accounts, with a separate flag that decides who may see health and disability details.
  • Household records: guardian, locality, housing, rent, other income, expenses and a food basket.
  • People records for each member: relationship, age, whether a Rukh student and in which class, education, work, skills, health, disability and any child work with observed risk factors.
  • A guided interview for home visits, and an "Update family" shortcut that reopens only the sections that changed.
  • Needs and opportunities with a status, follow-up actions assigned to a staff member with a due date, and a record of support provided.
  • Search, a dashboard, photos per person and an admin-only data export.

What it lets Rukh do

  • Open a family and see who is in it, what is open and who owns each next step.
  • See on one screen which households need attention first.
  • Keep sensitive health details visible only to the people cleared to see them.
Relevant if youYour records live in spreadsheets, paper files and WhatsApp groups, and a follow-up depends on someone remembering.

A delegation package, so Rukh could stand on an international stage prepared.

When Pakistan's delegation went to Social Business Day 2026 in Dhaka, the organisers needed a video brief, logos and an introduction from every member. We prepared Rukh's, for Rizq's communications team, and Rukh took its place among the 24 delegates.6

What we built

  • A 60 to 90 second video brief: shot list, on-screen statistic captions and visual direction.
  • A logo and colour guide with four versions: primary, reversed, mono and reversed mono, each with its best use.
  • A booklet-ready introduction to the organisation, in a full and a short version, plus a one-line introduction for the delegate.
  • A social caption for the announcement, and a photo checklist for the organisers.
  • A tent-card layout for the booth table, with a QR code that points to the website.

What it lets Rukh do

  • Show up to an international room with consistent materials and one link to the whole story.
Relevant if youA funder, ministry or network has invited you to speak, exhibit or join a delegation, and you have a week.

Inside the build

How it is put together, in plain terms.

You do not need to read this to benefit from it. It is here so your team, or your technical adviser, can see the work is built to last.

The website: one source, 21 pages

The site is generated from a single source file rather than edited page by page. The navigation, footer, titles, structured data and sitemap are produced the same way every time, so they cannot drift apart. The output is plain static pages on Esipick's own server, which are fast, cheap to run and have no login to attack.

The household system: a small, separate application

It runs as its own application with its own database, kept apart from every other Esipick system, and it is structured so it can be lifted into its own project later. All reads and writes go through one layer, so a future move to a larger database changes one place, not the whole app.

DATA MODEL, SIMPLIFIED. FIELD NAMES PARAPHRASED FROM THE SCHEMA.

Household expenses exceed incomeNeed: financial
A working-age adult has a skill and is not workingOpportunity: livelihood

The four rules are written out in code, not learned by a model. The system never creates anything by itself: staff see each suggestion and tap Create or Ignore. That keeps judgement with people and makes every suggestion explainable.

THE HOME-VISIT INTERVIEW: FIVE STEPS. "UPDATE FAMILY" REOPENS ONLY THE STEPS THAT CHANGED.

The first data load

The first import ran on 27 and 28 September 2026, from the school's own student files by grade, from Reception to Grade 10. These are counts from the first import, not outcomes.

121households created
190people, of whom 186 are flagged as Rukh students
45open needs after the import

COUNTS VERIFIED FROM THE SYSTEM ON 29 SEPTEMBER 2026. AGGREGATES ONLY. NO NAMES OR DETAILS ARE SHOWN.

What Rukh can do now

Capabilities, not claims about outcomes.

We do not claim donations, growth or results, because we have not measured them and would not invent them. These are things Rukh can now do that it could not do before in one place.

Tell its whole story at one address

Five pillars, six ways to help, verifiable recognition and a donation page, all in the language partners use.

Take a pledge from anywhere

A donor in Pakistan or abroad can choose an amount and a programme and start the conversation in one tap.

Stand behind its numbers

Claims are conservative and sourced, with a written list of what is still to be confirmed.

Know each household

People, needs, actions and support sit in one record, searchable by family, guardian, phone or a person's name.

See what needs attention first

A dashboard counts open needs and overdue actions, and a "my actions" list shows each staff member their own follow-ups.

Show up prepared

Video brief, logo guide, introduction and a booth card with a QR code were ready for an international delegation.

Roadmap, not built yet

What is next

  • Daily student wellness check-ins and attendance, following the school's own stated approach.
  • A donor and volunteer pipeline, so every enquiry has an owner and a next step.
  • An impact dashboard fed by real data from the household system.
  • Monthly impact reporting, drawn from that dashboard.
  • Governance documents published on the site as Rukh approves them.
  • US tax-deductible receipts, which Rukh says it is working on.19

What this means for your organisation

Eight questions to ask of your own organisation.

If you run a school, a food programme, a foundation or a community programme, these are the questions Rukh's work answers. For each, here is how Esipick would deliver.

1

Can a stranger understand what you do in a minute?

How we deliver: a clear site map organised around your programmes, with copy written for donors, partners and journalists.

2

Can a supporter abroad give without friction?

How we deliver: a donation page with currency choice, programme preference and a direct line to your team, honest about what you can and cannot yet do.

3

Can you defend every number you publish?

How we deliver: a fact-check pass before launch: each claim confirmed, marked or removed, with the owner named.

4

Do you know each household, and who owns each follow-up?

How we deliver: a case-management system shaped around your home visits, with needs, actions and a record of support.

5

Can you spot risk early without a black box?

How we deliver: plain written rules that suggest, and a person who decides. Every suggestion can be explained.

6

Is sensitive information visible only to the right people?

How we deliver: role-based access, a separate permission for health details, and an admin-only export.

7

If a funder or delegation calls tomorrow, are you ready?

How we deliver: a pack with a video brief, logo guide, introduction and a booth card, built from your own facts.

8

Does your visual and social presence match the work?

How we deliver: photo and film coverage, managed social channels and search setup, planned with your calendar.

How we start with you

Start with one practical improvement.

You do not need a full programme of work on day one. Pick the thing that costs your team the most time or trust, and we begin there.

1

A short call

We listen to how your organisation runs today: who you serve, what your team does by hand, and where supporters get lost. We help you choose one improvement to start with.

2

A written scope, timeline and price

Before any work begins, you receive what we will build, when it will be ready and what it costs. Nothing starts until you agree.

3

Ship the first piece, then grow

We deliver the first improvement in days, not months. If it helps, we move to the next one. Esipick's fixed prices start from $300.

Do hard, real work that few people can see? Let us help show it.

Whether it is a clearer story, an easier way to give, defensible numbers, or a system for your household visits, we begin with one practical step. Tell us what your team does by hand today.

Scope, timeline and cost agreed in writing before work begins.

About these figures

For each number Rukh publishes we use the most conservative current figure and say "close to" or "more than". Years of service use the 25+ that Rukh publishes, and the school's founding year, 2005, is stated separately. These are descriptions of scale, not measured outcomes.

Household-system counts (121 households, 190 people, 186 flagged students, 45 open needs) come from the first data import on 27 and 28 September 2026 and were verified from the system on 29 September 2026. They are not results. All household-system screens on this page use invented data. No real beneficiary information is shown, and no child is named. The delegation package was built from the figures Rukh held at the time. The fact-check ledger lists what each figure is subject to.

Rukh Foundation is founded and led by Rukhsana Izhar. This page was written by Esipick, which built the work described here in partnership with Rukh.

Where this page describes a service as part of the package, it describes the scope of that service, not an achievement. We have not stated any traffic, donation total, follower count or enrolment growth, because we have not measured any. The Esipick description of Rukh's digital identity is on Esipick's own nonprofit page.17 Photos are Rukh Foundation's own, already public on its site. Screenshots of rukh.foundation were captured on 8 October 2026.
